KAL’s EMV Kernel certified for Windows 8.1 - Another world first for KAL

In another world first, KAL’s EMV Kernel 5.0 has been certified for Windows 8.1.

KAL’s EMV 5.0 Kernel is now certified for XP, Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 until 28 March 2017 and is to be deployed with a leading global bank during the first quarter of 2015.

Last year, KAL became the first ATM Company to declare its products certified for both Windows 7 and Windows 8 – just one week after the new Windows 8 operating system was officially launched by Microsoft. KAL had been Windows 7 ready for a long time.

KAL’s EMV Kernel 4.1 is certified for XP and Windows 7 until 3 April 2016, and the EMV Kernel 4.0 for Windows XP (only) until May 22, 2015. The certification of the EMV 5.0 Kernel ensures a smooth transition for KAL’s clients wanting to migrate from Windows XP, which Microsoft formally ended support for in April 2014.

Steve Hensley, EVP of Global Sales at KAL, said: “As ATM software leaders, we are always working hard to ensure our software is fully certified for the latest technologies so our customers can approach the future with confidence. By certifying our EMV Kernel for the latest release of Windows we are extremely proud to claim another world first.”
