Banques Populaires deploy Kalignite EMV Kernel for ATMs

June, 2007- Press Release

Edinburgh, United Kingdom - Banques Populaires, one of France's largest banks, is now using KAL's Kalignite EMV Kernel in over 4,000 automated teller machines (ATMs) in its France-wide network.

Banques Populaires has 2,000 branches and 7,000,000 customers. Its ATMs provide a wide range of customer transactions, including advanced operations such as mobile phone top-up. The transactions can only be accessed using the Europay MasterCard Visa (EMV) "chip and pin" technology, which significantly reduces card-based fraud and promotes secure ATM transactions.

After a thorough procurement process, i-BP, the technology arm of Banques Populaires, chose KAL's EMV technology early in 2006. It has now been integrated and is in use across the entire ATM network.

Michel Denis, KAL's Director of Engineering said: "We are delighted that Banques Populaires have chosen to deploy KAL's EMV Kernel across its network. The banks take great care to offer customers a very secure ATM service, and we believe our software helps them achieve their aims". François Taveau, Director of the Self Service Program at i-BP, said: "We are delighted with the ease and speed with which we were able to integrate KAL's EMV technology with our existing ATM application. Following a successful pilot, we quickly deployed this software across 4000 ATMs in December 2006".

The Kalignite EMV Kernel is used within the i-BP private multi-vendor software application This solution is deployed across ATM machines from NCR, Diebold (Opteva, 9.x, 10.x), Wincor, and deposit machines from De La Rue / Banking Automation.
