The Kalignite ATM software suite is the first to run on Microsoft’s Windows 8

KAL has become the first ATM company to declare its products certified for Windows 8 – just one week after the new operating system was officially launched by Microsoft.
The move comes as the banking industry prepares to switch from Windows XP to Windows 7 on ATMs. The April 2014 expiration date for XP signals the end of formal support for XP by Microsoft.
Aravinda Korala, KAL’s CEO, said: “KAL has been Windows 7 ready for a long time, but we were held back by the lack of XFS driver support from the ATM hardware vendors. KAL’s RTM allows us to remove this dependency. The RTM is now available with Windows 8 along with KAL’s Kalignite software suite and the world’s first XFS SPs for Windows 8 from KAL”.
KAL’s revolutionary RTM (Retail Teller Machine), a cashless ATM that prints a unique voucher exchangeable for cash, is now the only banking terminal on the market running the Windows 8 operating system.
